Remembrance

Canadians took a moment today to remember and honour soldiers who fought for the freedom of Canada.

Right here in Sudbury thousands gathered at the Sudbury Arena for the ceremony which was led by Silver Cross Mother, Claudette Roberge.

Roberge, the mother of fallen Canadian Soldier Gaeten Roberge, says days like these are especially hard.

Warrant Officer Gaetan Roberge was a member of the Irish Regiment in Sudbury and died in action in Afghanistan on December 27th, 2008.

President of the Royal Canadian Legion Lockerby Branch, Warren Ginson says he too was thinking about hjis family, his father who fought in World War II and his Uncle who fought in Korea.

Canadians also celebrated two milestone anniversaries.

2015 marks the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II and the 100th anniversary of the writing of In Flanders Fields, by Major John McCrae.
