Investigators with the Transportation Safety Board have completed their on-site examination of the debris field following a fatal plane crash Monday night, near Parry Sound.

TSB Ontario Regional Manager, Don Enns, says the Cessna 182 had just taken off from the Parry Sound airport, and was on its way to Tillsonburg, when it came down.

He says the aircraft came down at a high speed and at a very steep angle.

That leads TSB investigators to believe there was a total loss of control by the pilot.

Enns hasn’t identified any mechanical deficiencies yet, however says he still needs to look at maintenance records of the aircraft.

The next part of the examination will look at weather conditions at the time of the crash as well as pilot experience.

Enns says the aircraft belonged to the pilot, who had a valid pilot’s license, with a night rating.

The identity of the male pilot and his female passenger won’t be released until the post mortem is finished in Toronto.
