A week ago (Nov 17), Timmins Police were called to Timmins & District Hospital after a seven week-old infant was found dead.

Police began to investigate the sudden death incident, and a postmortem examination was held last Thursday in Sudbury.

As a result of the findings, a 30-year-old man and 25-year-old woman, both of Timmins, were charged with Fail to Provide the Necessities of Life.

Two other children were taken from the couple’s custody and have been placed in safe environments.

To protect the identities of these children, and due to the sensitive nature of the incident, the names of the accused will not be released.

The two individuals charged were due for a bail hearing yesterday.
