The city’s winter maintenance crews have been busy again today after the latest blast of winter weather.

Work by over 100 city workers and contractors began last night as rain turned to freezing rain and then to snow.

Crews attack roads when there is icy conditions and when snow starts to stick to the ground with a full response for plowing on the major roadways when 5 cm of snow has fallen while work on residential streets starts at 8 cm.

Greater Sudbury is the largest municipality in Ontario based on total area and has 3,560 kilometers of roadways.
