The provincial government is supporting small business and innovation in Greater Sudbury.

$847,000 in funding was announced this morning by Sudbury M-P-P Glenn Thibeault through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation for four local projects.

NORCAT will use $375,000 to upgrade the ventilation and electric systems at their underground centre in Onaping.

Nor-Vac Industrial Services – JettaCon Solutions received a grant for $250,000 to help develop a system to remove hardened concrete from inside mobile ready mix drums.

Verv Technology will receive $184,500 to develop a portable blood plasma separator that enables individuals to perform lab-quality diagnostic testing on a smart phone.

EnergyMax Manufacturing will receive $38,175 to develop equipment that recuperates and stores wasted thermal energy from furnaces, hot water tanks, boilers and solar collectors for later use.
