An 18-year old Sudbury man has started a fundraising initiative to help the local homeless population stay warm this winter.

Over the next few weeks, donations of jackets, hats, mitts, and other warm clothing, even blankets, can be dropped off at six different locations across the city.

It’s part of “Keeping Sudbury Warm”, the brain-child of Willem Deisinger.

Donated items will all go to the Salvation Army-run Out-of-the-Cold Shelter, used regularly by those in our community who may not have a warm home to go to every night.

Deisinger says it was an interaction with a young homeless man this past summer in Sudbury, that got him thinking about wanting to help others over the winter months.

There are several drop-off locations across the city set up from now until December 18th.

Drop Off Locations:

The Salvation Army -634 Notre Dame Ave
All About Massage -105 Durham St
Reg Wilkinson -118 Durham St
Sudbury BJJ And Muay Thai -790 Lasalle Blvd
Kitchen Bits -1390 Kingsway
The Outside Store -2140 Long Lake Road
