A Sudbury sculptor is working on a life-sized bronze monument to be erected in Parry Sound honouring the most highly decorated First Nations soldier in Canadian history.

The sculpture of Francis Pegahmagabow is being commissioned by the Ontario Native Education Counselling Association.

It will be unveiled on National Aboriginal Day June 21st, 2016.

The artist -Tyler Fauvelle- says along with Pegahmagabow, the sculpture will also include a caribou and an eagle.

The monument is set to go in front of the performing arts centre in Parry Sound, overlooking Parry Island where Pegahmagabow settled after World War I.
