Police are encouraging store owners to put a limit on the number of cartons of cigarettes that can be sold to one person.

That’s after a scam that hit Greater Sudbury.

Police say an organized group of people have been targeting local stores and using fraudulent credit cards to purchase large qualities of cigarettes.

Store owners are being warned to be cautious when large amounts of cigarettes are being purchased.

The total loss to date reported to police is more than $12,000.
