Ed Sheeran made a major announcement over the weekend. During a concert in New Zealand, Sheeran broke the news that it would be his last show for awhile. The next day, the “Thinking Out Loud” singer posted this message on social media:

“Hello all. I’m taking a break from my phone, emails and all social media for a while, I’ve had such an amazing ride over the last 5 years but I find myself seeing the world through a screen and not my eyes so I’m taking this opportunity of me not having to be anywhere or do anything to travel the world and see everything I’ve missed”

As much as this shocked Sheeran’s nearly 16 million Twitter followers and 5.5 million Instagram followers, he gave them some good news to ease the pain….a NEW ALBUM!

“To my family and friends, if you love me you will understand me buggering off for a bit, to my fans, the 3rd album is on its way and is the best thing I have made thus far…See you all next autumn, and thank you for being amazing.”

But, that’s not all Sheeran has planned for the new year! The singer is reportedly undergoing surgery to fix a burst-eardrum. Plus, you will definitely see Sheeran at the 2016 Grammy Awards, because “Thinking Out Loud” was nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
