United Airlines is facing major backlash after allegedly keeping two young girls from boarding their flight because they were wearing leggings. “A @united gate agent isn’t letting girls in leggings get on flight from Denver to Minneapolis because spandex is not allowed?” witness Shannon Watts tweeted on Sunday. “She’s forcing them to change or put dresses on over leggings or they can’t board.” Watts went on to explain that the two girls were allowed to board after changing their clothing. While United Airlines has since clarified that the girls “were not in compliance with our dress code policy for company benefit travel,” several people–including actress Patricia Arquette–have condemned the airlines policy. “Leggings are business attire for 10 year olds,” Arquette tweeted. “Their business is being children.”

Surprise!

Selena Gomez showed up at a high school in Los Angeles to honor young girls through her work with the Step Up Foundation and Coach. As the designer’s star brand ambassador, she visited the school to spread the after-school program’s message of empowerment.

  • The event was surprisingly casual. Gomez mingled with students and imparted advice to the kids to “love yourself first.”
  • In a statement to People, Gomez explained why she is working with Step Up: “Step Up’s mission to empower young women is personally important to me and something even more crucial in under-served communities. Working with the young women I met today was an inspirational experience I will never forget.”
  • Gomez also shared a shot of the event on Instagram, writing:  “It’s crazy to me how much they are willing put others before themselves.”
  • She is expected to star in Coach’s spring 2017 ad campaign and collaborate with creative director Stuart Vevers on a special design piece.
  • Coach’s national charity partner Step Up works to help young women in under-resourced communities.
  • Meanwhile, Gomez is keeping things busy in her love life as well. The pop supernova reportedly joined her boyfriend The Weeknd during his tour in Colombia on Friday. He performed at the city’s Estéreo Picnic Festival Thursday and has a few days off before he is scheduled to perform in Brazil.
  • Then two days later, they were spotted Sunday at Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo, Brazil, where The Weeknd is scheduled to perform at the Lollapalooza 2017 festival Sunday night as part of his Starboy: Legend of the Fall tour.

One Direction singer Liam Payne and girlfriend Cheryl Cole celebrated the birth of their first child, a son, last Wednesday. In an Instagram post holding the baby, Payne said he was “very blessed” to be a father. The couple has yet to settle on a name, he said.

Payne, 23, and Cole, 33, began dating last year, but met in 2008 when Cole, a former member of the pop group Girls Aloud, was a judge on the U.K. version of Simon Cowell’s talent show, The X Factor. Payne was just 14 at the time. He would later be paired with the four other members of One Direction who also appeared as contestants on the show.

Harry Styles is teasing something big to come on April 7th, and sources tell Billboard it’s a single. A mysterious TV ad – in which an instrumental track is heard as Styles walks through a cloud of smoke – aired in the U.K. Saturday. At the end of the clip, the singer’s eyes gaze into the camera, just before the date April 7th flashes on the screen.

News of the One Direction star signing a recording contract with Columbia Records was confirmed in June. The April 7th release would be Styles’ debut solo single.

The letter “S” is for Sia, songs and Sesame Street. The singer connected all the dots in a musical sequence on the long-running educational program.

With a little help from Cookie Monster, Elmo, Grover and their furry friends, Sia tackled a subject she knows a lot about in the ditty “S is for Songs.” “S is for songs, and I love songs. Don’t know what we’d do with out them/I love songs so much I wanna sing a song about ‘em,” she sang. Sia clowned around for her spot wearing bright colors and a red nose.
