It’s been more than a week since the Qarquoz family landed in Sudbury moving from Lebanon and war-torn Syria.

The family was happy to be in Canada, but sad because the grandfather had to stay behind on a passport issue.

Now that they have been able to settle down, the father talked about what his thoughts of Canada are, through a translator, Ahmed Salem.

He says Canada should a be super power due to it’s kindness.

They were on hand to welcome the second family the Alzahran family, this past week.

The three boys from the family also took in their first taste of Canadian culture, a Sudbury Wolves game, and a win, 6-4 over Sault Ste. Marie.

One thing that was missing when the family landed in Sudbury, their grandfather who was held up due to passport issues, he is set to arrive Monday.
