There’s a new unique building nearing completion that will provide a new home to hundreds of church-goers in Greater Sudbury.

All Nations Church is hoping to hold its first service in the 550-seat monolithic dome off St Raphael Street, which sits on a hill overlooking the downtown.

Pastor Jeremy Mahood says construction has taken a few years but the project is finally coming to fruition.

He says the congregation wanted to avoid accruing debt, so they paid for the $4.5-million project as it went along.

That’s why it took so long to build.

Mahood says after using Fraser Auditorium for a number of years, All Nations Church decided to not be a renter anymore.

He is excited to get all the church activities going in the new location and hopes it will bring new people in who may be looking to grow in their faith.

There are several unique features with the 11,000 square foot building, including a skylight lit up during the night.

Mahood says that light will shine into the night and believes that will act as a beacon of hope to those who see it from afar.

City inspections are slated for January 22.

Mahood hopes the first church service in the new building will go February 7th.
