Teachers at Ontario’s french language school boards have voted in favour of a two-year deal with the province.

The ratification extends their current contracts through to 2019, allowing the Liberal government to avoid contentious bargaining ahead of next year’s provincial election.

A deal covering about 55-thousand education workers represented by the Canadian Union of Public Employees has also been ratified while tentative agreements have been reached with English Catholic teachers and public elementary teachers.

Those agreements include four per cent raises over the two years as well as a 0.5-per-cent lump sum payment, which Radio Canada has reported are the same terms included in the deal covering French language teachers.
