Rainbow School

Officials with the Rainbow District School Board says they are committed to the bargaining process when it comes to avoiding a strike by local high school teachers.

The teachers unions says it’s members will walk off the job next week if a local collective agreement is not reached by then.

School Board chair Doreen Dewar says some things are out of their control, like all monetary issues and all issues impacting funding that must be bargained at the provincial level.

She says if teachers do go out on strike, the earliest the classroom would be effected is next Tuesday since Monday is a professional development day.

Dewar says letters have been sent home and students and parents should monitor local media and check the school board website for updates on the situation.
