FarmersMarket

Very few changes are coming to The Market (Sudbury’s Farmers’ Market) in downtown Sudbury this year.

Manager of Tourism and Culture, Meredith Armstrong, says they’ve developed a market that is interchangeable, without permanent structures, in case of future construction…and they’ve tried to stay true to the homegrown market feel.

She says they’ve thought long and hard about featuring different vendors, but for now will stick with local fresh produce and crafts.

Last year, the Market averaged about 440 people on Saturdays and 210 on Sundays, but overall the numbers were down from the year before.

Armstrong says the slightly lower numbers were mainly due to large amounts of rain last summer.

So far over 20 new vendors have inquired about The Market on Elgin Street, which opens for the season June 27th.
