A lost mountain-biker can credit his cell phone and 9-1-1 dispatchers for helping him get out of the bush last night.

The 48-year old had been cycling in the network of trails north of New Sudbury, which include forested terrain mixed with shrubs and swamp, when he got disoriented.

The man tried several times to find his way back to a roadway and finally called police after becoming exhausted.,

He called 9-1-1 and the dispatchers were able to use data from his cell phone to triangulate his location.

Both front-line and search and rescue officers from Greater Sudbury Police were able to find him on the southeast shoreline of Whitson Lake, just before sunset.

He was not hurt.
