Former Sudbury Wolf Nick Foligno is the new captain of the NHL’s Columbus Blue Jackets.

He becomes the 6th captain in franchise history.

Nick’s dad Mike Foligno was a former Sudbury Wolves Captain and went on to the wear the “C” for the Buffalo Sabres.

The 27 year old is coming off the best season of his eight-year NHL career as he set career highs in virtually every offensive category with 31 goals and 42 assists for 73 points with 50 penalty minutes and a +16 plus/minus rating in 79 games.

Foligno played three seasons with the Sudbury Wolves from 2004-2007 where he played in 196 regular season games notching 65 goals and adding 131 assists in addition to accumulating 392 penalty minutes.

Folgino was named an assistant captain in his final season with the wolfpack and helped lead the team to the OHL Finals in 2007.
