The next time someone says you’re wasting your time watching cat videos on YouTube, tell them that science now deems your feline-viewing habit healthy. According to an Indiana University survey of 7,000 cat-video enthusiasts, people who watch cat videos feel more energetic and more positive after watching the videos than beforehand. They also reported fewer negative emotions, like anxiety and sadness. “Even if they are watching cat videos on YouTube to procrastinate…the emotional payoff may actually help people take on tough tasks afterwards,” says lead study author Jessica Gail Myrick.
