A new microbrewery is ready to begin operation on Manitoulin Island.

The Manitoulin Brewing Company is set to open this summer in Little Current, but co-founder Blair Hagman says work has been in the planning stages for the past couple of years.

Sales have already been confirmed in more than 20 restaurants and three golf courses on the Island as well several locations in Sudbury.

One of the unique features of the new microbrewery, will see the beers produced named after famous landmarks on Manitoulin Island.

Co-founder Nishin Meawasige says that’s the case for their first beer “Swingbridge Blonde Ale”.

The Manitoulin Brewing Company will be making more announcements in the weeks to come about other beers that will be available.
