OPP logo Ontario Provincial PoliceOPP are urging drivers to take Ontario’s traffic laws seriously, including here in the Northeast Region.

This after police say 27 people lost their lives on provincial roadways, in the first three weeks on June.

Here in the northeast region, Sgt Chrystal Jones says four people have died in June, as a result of four collisions.

One of those resulted in an impaired charge for the driver.

Police say all drivers need to stop speeding, driving impaired or distracted and ensure everyone in their vehicle is wearing their seatbelt.

OPP are also encouraging passengers to speak up when a driver is putting their lives at risk.

So far this year in the northeast region, 15 fatal collisions have claimed 18 lives.
