Commemoration

It was a day filled with sadness, but also one of pride as the City held a Commemoration Ceremony for Fallen Soldiers today in Memorial Park.

Honoured were four soldiers who lost their lives in combat missions, Corporal Gilles Desmarais who died in Bosnia, Corporal Glenn Arnold, Private David Byres, and Private Andrew Miller who all were killed in Afghanistan.

Wendy Miller, whose son Andrew Miller was killed five years ago on Friday says she could not be more proud of her son.

Corporal Kenrick Sproul spoke with the families before hand and told them that the freedom is not free, there is a price to pay for the freedoms in Canada and to some degree in Afghanistan.

The four will forever have their name etched on Memorial Wall.
