For the first time ever Surgeons at Health Sciences North performed a special facial nerve graft.

Earlier this month, Dr Christa Favot performed the cadaveric nerve graft on a patient who had a benign tumour in their jaw, replacing the nerve with one from a donor.

The surgery was done with the help of an Oral and MaxilloFacial Surgeon from the University of Toronto.

Dr Favot is now able to offer this surgery locally, instead of patients having to travel outside the region.
