The Ministry of Natural Resources have called in several fire crews, helicopters and fire engines, and have issued a Emergency Area Order for Sudbury Fire 38.

Fire 38 is the name given for the forest fire that has grown to 438 hectares in size northeast of Sudbury near Halfway Lake Provincial Park.

The emergency means people could be evacuated at any time, roads could close and travel could be restricted.

As of Saturday both ground and air personnel have been attacking the fire.

The Incident Management Team is in the process of establishing a base camp which should be operational by mid-week.
