The forest fire known as Sudbury 38 is 100-percent contained, but the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says it’s still not under control, as crews continue to work to suppress the flames.

The Emergency Area Order remains in effect for the area northeast of Halfway Lake Provincial Park.

That’s so Fire Rangers and other M-N-R-F personnel can work to put out the fire that started two weeks ago.

The M-N-R-F says Sudbury 38 began on July 23rd and has charred 438 hectares of land.

On Sunday, eight new fires were confirmed throughout the Northeast, seven of them in the Sudbury district.

Currently the Forest Fire Hazard is moderate to high across the region.
