Investigation Underway Into Release of Toxic Mist At Vale's Acid Plant

The release of toxic mist from Vale’s Acid Plant in Copper Cliff is the focus of a full scale investigation.

Yesterday’s incident led to a Level 3 emergency which put plans in action by both Vale and the city.

Vale’s Jody Kuzenko says the investigation will be two pronged.

1) To look into how it happened.

2) To see if there were any gaps in their communications to the public.

Kuzenko says the company maintains there was no risk to the public as levels of the toxic mist were well below acceptable standards.

Also involved in the investigations are the Steelworkers Union, Greater Sudbury Police and Sudbury Emergency Services.
