City Spends $55,000 For Amazing Race Canada Exposure

The numbers are in for what it cost the city to host the Amazing Race Canada.

The Greater Sudbury Development Corporation put $55,000, mostly towards twelve 30-second ads highlighting the city on national TV.

GSDC Chair Darren Stinson feels the investment was worth every penny.

He says the city took a risk and stepped outside the box on this one, but the exposure far outweighs the price-tag.

Stinson says they’ve only heard positive feedback since the episode aired.

Only time will tell what effects the hour-long reality show will have on the local economy, but early reports show hotel bookings are already up.

Stinson says the episode was also a huge success locally, with a large turnout for the viewing party at Science North.
