If you have a close relationship with your grandparents, this may not surprise you in the least — and if you don’t, you might want to make time to call them more often. A recent study from Boston College shows that grandparents and grandchildren have real, measurable effects on each other’s psychological well-being, even once grandchildren reach adulthood. In other words, staying close with your gran and gramps may help all three of you stave off depression! Brilliant, right? The 20-year study tracked more than 300 grandparent/grandchild “couples,” with average ages of each at 77 and 31 at the study’s 10-year midpoint, respectively. Over the course of the study, people who maintained close emotional connections with their living grandparents were less likely to experience depressive symptoms.  (Self Magazine)
