PolicePlateScanner

The Greater Sudbury Police Traffic Management Unit is already singing the praises of the new Automated License Plate Recognition System, and they’ve only had it two days!

One Wednesday -the first day it was in use- the scanner helped officers take five suspended drivers off the road, detect 55 expired validation stickers and issue numerous other offences.

The technology allows officers to spend less time searching for offending drivers and be able to conduct other traffic enforcement.

Police say based on these numbers alone, they recognize this tool is proving valuable to them and will continue to crack down on traffic offenders.

Just one cruiser is equipped with the cameras.
