Junction Creek

A red dye will be added to the Whitson River near Chelmsford today as part of a study to determine if recent wastewater improvements are working.

The city says it will add the safe, environmentally friendly fluorescing red dye to the waterway around Lavallee Road, where the Azilda Creek meets the Whitson River.

The water will look red but the dye will dilute as it flows downstream.

The dye tracer test studies the mixing of treated wastewater and river water to make sure recent changes made at the Azilda Treatment Plant comply with provincial water quality policies.
