The Northern Ontario School of Medicine is marking ten years of existence in Sudbury and Thunder Bay.

In that time 400 Medical Doctors have graduated and 69% of those have set up practice throughout the region, including in rural and remote communities.

Dean & CEO, Dr Roger Strasser is proud of how far the school has come and says it has surpassed all original expectations.

To mark the anniversary the school launched its new five-year Strategic Plan called “Reaching Beyond Extraordinary Together”.

Strasser says the mission and values of the school haven’t changed, but the strategic plan for 2015-2020 includes five new goals.

One of those goals is to strengthen research on priority health issues of Northern Ontario residents.

The document  created after two years of consultation from communities across Northern Ontario.
