The provincial government is stepping in to help with Sudbury’s Out-of-the-Cold shelter…to the tune of $71,000.

The money comes from the Local Poverty Reduction Fund, which will help the facility hire two client navigators.

Those client navigators who will help people fill prescriptions and get referrals, as well as connect them to other service agencies to help move them into permanent housing.

Greater Sudbury’s Out-of-the-Cold Shelter is an overnight emergency program, which provides barrier-free services for the homeless during the five months of winter.

Last winter the shelter had a total of 4,000 visits over the cold weather season.
