March is Colon Cancer Awareness Month and health officials are urging men and women to get screened.

When caught early, 9 out of every 10 people with colon cancer can be cured.

It’s recommended that men and women at average risk aged 50 to 74 get screened for colon cancer with a fecal occult blood test every two years.

For those who do develop colorectal cancer, HSN is one of the few hospitals in Ontario to provide an advanced, minimally invasive surgery, the most advanced technique that currently exists for colorectal cancer.
