“Don’t push your slower friends into a bear” in order to save yourself. Seems obvious, right?

But apparently, some people needed to be reminded because this safety tip was (jokingly?) included in the PSA from the USA’s National Park Services. While it’s an American source, it’s always good advice for us in Northern Ontarians. Some other tips to remember according to the PSA:

“Please don’t run from bears.”

“Move away slowly and sideways.”

“Stay calm” and “hold your ground. Identify yourself by making noise so the bear knows you are a human and not a prey animal.”

The post also added a little humour to the serious subject saying, “P.S. We apologize to any ‘friends’ who were brought on a hike as the ‘bait’ or were sacrificed to save the group. You will be missed.”
