U Can’t Cut This
Scientists in the UK say they’ve created the first artificial material that cannot be cut. In fact, the more someone tries to cut it, the more damage they will do to their blade! The material, dubbed Proteus, takes its inspiration from the unlikely duo of abalone shells and grapefruit peels-not so much from the actual material of their protections but from the way that material is structured. The material created in the lab could not be cut even by angle grinders or drill bits according to the researchers. The resulting material potentially has all kinds of applications in the world of security, including bank vaults. But the first practical application might be bike locks, per Fast Company.

Brother Can You Spare a Dime… Actually a Lot of Them?
The big coin-shortage of 2020 is just one of the unanticipated effects of the pandemic, and now banks have started paying people for their change. In Wisconsin, the Community State Bank’s Coin Buy Back Program will give a $5 bonus to anyone who brings in $100 worth of coins, up to a maximum bonus of $500! The bank is also waiving fees for coin counting. And everyone’s welcome – you don’t need to be a customer of the bank to take part.
