Swifties, the time has come as Taylor Swift has FINALLY released her brand new album, reputation (purchase it from iTunes HERE).

reputation is Taylor’s sixth studio album and is her latest release since 2014’s Grammy-award winning 1989; it featured the singles, ‘Bad Blood’, ‘Style’, ‘Blank Space’ and ‘Wildest Dreams’ and the mega hit, ‘Shake It Off’.

Back in August, Taylor released reputation’s lead single, ‘Look What You Made Me Do’; it samples Right Said Fred’s 1991 single, ‘I’m Too Sexy’.

It also reached number one on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart.

The song raised eyebrows because of some of the lyrics:

“But I got smarter, I got harder in the nick of time / Honey, I rose up from the dead, I do it all the time / I’ve got a list of names and yours is in red underlined / I check it once, then I check it twice”.

She appeared to take a shot at Kanye West with the line, “I don’t like your tilted stage”, referring to his Saint Pablo Tour stage set up…

Fans also picked out another lyric that they say was a shot at Katy Perry, “I don’t like your kingdom keys / They once belonged to me / You ask me for a place to sleep / Locked me out and threw a feast (what?)” , that reference to throwing a “feast”, some think is in reference to Katy’s song, ‘Bon Appetit’.

A few weeks later Taylor revealed the single’s music video, and became YouTube’s most watched video within 24 hours.

Another song that appears to take a shot at Kanye West is number 13 on the album called, ‘This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things’.

Taylor appears to reference Kim Kardashian’s release of clips of Kanye’s phone conversation with Taylor Swift about his song, ‘Famous’ when she sings,

It was so nice being friends again / There I was giving you a second chance / But then you stabbed my back while shaking my hand / And therein lies the issue / Friends don’t try to trick you / Get you on the phone and mind-twist you.”

If that wasn’t clear enough, Taylor appears to mention Kanye’s falling out with Jay-Z when she says,

“But I’m not the only friend you’ve lost lately/Mm mmm/If only you weren’t so shady.”

A few weeks later over the Labour Day weekend, she released the Max Martin-produced ‘Ready For It’, a song she released during halftime of a NCAA College Football game.

The video was directed by Joseph Khan, who has worked with Taylor quite a bit in the past, most notably for her ‘Bad Blood’ music video; there is a similar futuristic vibe to both videos.

As always with Taylor Swift music videos, the use of imagery is very prominent.

Taylor appears to reference her rumoured new boyfriend Joe Alwyn as messages ‘UR Gorgeous’ and “I Love You in Secret” appear painted on walls during the video.

Eagle eyed fans also noticed the numbers ‘89’ and ‘91’ in the video which could be a reference to her own birth year (1989, also the title of one of her biggest albums to date) and ‘91’, a reference to Joe’s birth year.

Rolling Stone actually published ’13 Things You Missed’ from the ‘Ready For It’ music video.

Also, just a few weeks ago, Taylor released a third song from reputation, called ‘Gorgeous’.

Last week, Taylor dropped another song off reputation that gave me ‘Out of the Woods’ type vibes; that song is, ‘Call It What You Want’.

The song that I am most intrigued by is the song ‘End Game’ featuring Taylor’s buddy Ed Sheeran and a surprise collaborator, rapper Future.

The night before reputation’s release, Taylor revealed the final song the album, ‘New Year’s Day’.

The fan performance was filmed in October in the living room of her Rhode Island home.

According to the YouTube description: “One hundred fans, who were picked by Swift herself, were in the audience. Swift invited fans to join her for special early listening parties called “secret sessions” to get an exclusive first listen of her new music before its public release. During the sessions, Swift personally walked her fans through the inspiration and the process behind making each song.”

Prior to reputation’s release, Taylor held secret album listening parties for fans in London and in her aforementioned Rhode Island home.
