UPDATE 2 – 2:30

Sudbury Police say the incident on Wilma Street is over.

The male who was in the top floor apartment exited around 2:30 and was taken into police custody without incident.

UPDATE – 1:42 pm

Police continue to contain the area of Wilma Street and Notre Dame.

Officers were called to the area just after 9 am this morning.

Staff Sergeant Marc Brunette confirmed one officer suffered minor injuries during the initial response

The tactical unit is on the scene but officers say there is no concern for public safety at this time.

Sudbury Police are asking residents to stay inside if you’re in the Wilma Street area.

Officers have contained the residence and got a woman out safely but a male remains in the top floor unit.

The male has thrown drum set cymbals, plates and a plank of wood out of the building at police officers.

The tactical unit is on the scene but officers say there is no concern for public safety at this time.
