The sun was shining and it was another beautiful day in the Greater City!

The Summer Cruiser kicked things off in the morning at O’Connor Park in the Flour Mill, where we began our celebrations for National Aboriginal Day 2017.

While at O’Connors Park, we took park in a variety of ceremonies, one of them being a traditional water ceremony. Which involves showing our respect for water as it is the gift of life. We later participated in smudging and a strawberry ceremony. Which was followed up by a delicious pancake and sausage breakfast.

Our evening concluded at the Grace Hartman Amphitheater located at Bell Park, where we had the opportunity to listen to some incredible musical performances by; Crystal Shawanda, Mimi O’Bonsawin, JoPo, The RiSe, Leah Belle, and Lisa Marie Naponse. They also had a ton of food vendors and kids activities on hand.

it was amazing to be able to spend the day taking part in cultural activities.

Thank you to all of those who spent the day celebrating National Aboriginal Day!
