Three things are for sure in Northern Ontario, death, taxes and bears coming out of hibernation.

The City is reminding the public to check properties for anything that might attract wildlife, especially bears, because human-bear interactions are higher in the Spring with less food sources available for the animals.

To avoid encounters, store garbage in a waste container with tight-fitting lids and put garbage, recycling and green bins out only on the morning of collection.

Residents can also report a bear sighting by visiting the city’s Report-A-Bear Map.
