A report by the Globe and Mail says over the past five years, 33 per cent of sexual assault allegations in Sudbury have gone unfounded.

When a report is unfounded it means the investigator doesn’t believe an offence has happened or was attempted.

Sudbury is nowhere near the highest in the country, that being Central Saanish B.C. at 60 per cent, but our city was higher than the national average of 19 per cent.

Unfounded Statistics are confidential and in most cases were obtained by the Globe through freedom of information.

A statement provided by Sudbury Police says they are currently doing a comprehensive review of how these types of incidents are handled.
