A joint inquest has been called four years after a boating incident took the lives of three people on Lake Wahnapitae.

On June 30th 2013, a boat slammed into an island killing 33-year old Matthew Humeniuk and 34-year old Michael Kritz, while 25-year old Stephanie Bertrand died from her injuries on July 8th.

The inquest will also consider the death of 54-year-old Kathryn Missen, who died in September 2014 in Casselman as the result of a medical condition.

The coroner says one inquest is being held into the deaths because of shared concerns about Ontario’s 9-1-1 response system.

The lone survivor of the boating collision has said he spent nearly an hour on the line with a 9-1-1 dispatcher who had difficulty figuring out his location, even though he sent a map showing where he was.
