NDP MP Charlie Angus says he will be introducing a bill into the house of commons to strengthen FedNor as a standalone agency.

FedNor is the regional development organization for the north.

The Timmins-James Bay MP says this move would put Northern Ontario on equal ground with every other economic agency in the country.

Liberal MP for Nickel Belt Marc Serre says the government has been investing in the north and will continue to.

Serre doesn’t see FedNor becoming a stand alone agency in the near future, he also say it would be a year or two before this would be debated.
