The 60-year old Southern Ontario pilot of a float plane is missing and the search continues for him after his craft went down in Fairbanks lake last night.

Greater Sudbury police were contacted around 8:00 and officers are still at the scene.

A 32-year old male passenger from Lively was rescued at the scene, taken to hospital and released with minor injuries.

Police, fire and EMS crews were sent to the area and a helicopter and C130 Hercules plane from CFB Trenton was brought in to help for several hours.

It’s believed the plane is in about 130 feet of water.

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change were called in and at this point there is no evidence of contamination from fuel or oil leakage.
