Because of low water conditions in the area…local residents are being asked to cut back on their water use by at least 10%.

Conservation Sudbury General Manager Carl Jorgenson says they issued the Level One water alert because of a drier than normal spring and early summer.

He adds that watershed levels are way down as are stream levels with some off as much as 60% from their normal flows.

Jorgenson says alert levels are possible but a rarity in the north.

The last time a Level One Alert was issued in Sudbury was the summer of 2010.
