Greater Sudbury Hydro has given the keys for two pieces of equipment to Cambrian College for its Powerline Technician Program.

A double bucket truck and pick-up truck were given to Cambrian adding to their fleet of vehicles for the program.

College President Bill Best says it mutually benefits Greater Sudbury Hydro and Cambrian College but most importantly the students.

Powerline Technician Coordinator, Bruce Cowtan says the donation doubles the college’s fleet and allows more training in bucket trucks which is where a lot of the industries work takes place from.

GSH Board Chair and Ward 1 Councillor, Mark Signoretti says both students get more experience with the equipment allowing them to be better prepared when they enter the workforce.

The donation also helped celebrate 10 years of partnership between GSU and Cambrian College.

The donated equipment were recently used by GSU technicians and are valued at over 100 thousand dollars.
