It turns out those two rumblings in Greater Sudbury Sunday night were connected to mining operations….and not earthquakes afterall.

Mining giant Vale says the two seismic events, classed as rock bursts, happened around the Creighton Mine in Lively.

No workers were hurt during either one of the shaking episodes because they happened during a shift change, however the company halted operations as a precaution.

Work started back up yesterday morning.

There were no damages reported to the mine.

Vale says the rock bursts happened at 7,680 foot level and 7,400 foot level, respectively.
