Preparations continues for the 4th annual “Coldest Night of the Year” winter walk.

The 2-K or 5-K walk will be held simultaneously in Sudbury and 80 other cities across Canada raising money for organizations that serve the poor or homeless.

Executive Director of the Samaritan Centre here in Sudbury, Kevin Serviss says the need is growing locally with 400 people homeless and hundreds more close to homeless.

The Samaritan Centre is a multi-agency facility in downtown Sudbury made up of the Elgin Street Mission, Blue Door Soup Kitchen and Corner Clinic.

Six members of the Sudbury Wolves helped serve dinner at the Samaritan Centre Tuesday night to raise awareness.
