Handi Transit

According to a report there were over 15 hundred un-accommodated trips Handi-Transit in 2014 meaning those needed the ride may have been left out.

City council heard a report from the city’s Transit Director that also says, there have been over 10 thousand cancellations in that same time period.

Ward 9 Councillor Deb McIntosh says something needs to be done.

McIntosh pointed out  the un-accommodated trips cost the city over 270 thousand dollars in 2014, and correcting that will be a main focus for the mobility advisory panel.

The mobility advisory panel will begin to look for improvements in service, like mitigating cancellations, when they begin in February.

Transit Director Roger Sauve says they will not look to add another bus, which would cost the city around 25 thousand dollars extra per year.

Ridership for Handi-Transit has increased from 40 thousand people a year in 2001, to over 135 thousand in 2014.
