Conservation Sudbury has issued a “Water Safety Statement” for the area.

It says that southern parts of the watersheds have received 25 to 30 mm of rain in the last 24 hours.

As a result, runoff has resulted in increased flows and levels in area streams with higher and faster flowing water expected in most watercourses.

Environment Canada is calling for the rain to taper off later tonight with additional mixed precipitation over the next several days.

This statement will remain in effect until noon on Thursday.
