There’s a new scam circulating that uses the popularity of Apple tech products to get unsuspecting users to give up personal and financial information.

The Sudbury Police Cyber Crime Unit says the bogus email claims to be from Apple Support.

It tells the user to click on a “Verify Now” link, which then asks them to input personal and banking details.

The email threatens to suspend the account if the information isn’t given.

Police tell residents that if they’re worried they should go directly to the Apple website to check with the company: reportphishing@apple.com

The phishing email should also be reported to Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre: www.antifraudcentre.ca
