There will be no municipal tax freeze in 2016, according to the city’s preliminary budget for next year.

The financial plan for the City of Greater Sudbury was introduced yesterday, with a proposed 3.9% tax increase.

Finance and Administration Chair, Mike Jakubo says that number could still change before it’s all approved February 9th.

The capital budget is currently around $518-million, but Jakubo says that’s just a number, what is important is how it’s all used.

If the 3.9% hike sticks, then property taxes would be around $2,740 dollars per home in 2016.

That would work out to around $102 extra on the average tax bill.
